Established in 1976, the Housing Authority operates under the Ministry for Social and Affordable Accommodation and has been instrumental in shaping Malta’s housing landscape. Regulator of the Private Residential Rental Market:
Following the introduction of the Private Residential Leases Act on 1st January 2020, the Housing Authority took on the responsibility of regulating the private residential rental market, ensuring compliance within the sector and registering all private residential lease contracts.
Property Management:
The Authority oversees the renovation and modernisation of its housing stock, conducting regular repairs and maintenance to ensure safe and improved living conditions for residents in government-owned dwellings.
